Wordful Wednesday and The Hiding Spot

As the girls entered toddlerhood two years ago, we started to let them out of "baby jail" so they could start exploring larger areas in the house.

They quickly claimed one of our cabinets in the kitchen as one of their favorite places to hang out. I keep this cabinet full of plastic containers that at first, just kept the girls entertained by their ability to take them in and out while opening and closing the cabinet door over and over and over. And of course, once the cabinet was empty, they figured out that all three of them could squeeze in it and hide from mommy.

The "magic" of the cabinet still exists today. The girls love going in there to find plastic containers that they can "cook" in. And of course, they still find joy in just making a mess and throwing them all over the kitchen and living room. All three of them can still squeeze in there, but it gets a little crowded....especially when they drag along their Easter baskets, blankets and backpacks.

Toddler paradise

What could be better than a children's musuem followed by a trip to Chuck E. Cheese? Hmmmm...an adult beverage, a good book and a sandy beach. Woopsie, think I wandered away there for a minute. Anyway...back to paradise for my soon-to-be three year olds. We met up with Auntie Ly and her village...the more the merrier!

There was so much to explore at the awesome children's musuem we went to visit.

Where's the fire mama?

Anyone need their lawn mowed? I've got my sister ridin' shotgun so she can do all the work.

Next up is a trip to the grocery store. Where's my club card?

That should do it....fruit and gatorade should keep em' all quiet.

Look out....there's the po-po lookin' for violators.

We finally made our way to Chuck E. Cheese and Lissy found the perfect truck to cruise around in.

The girls have fond memories of Chuck E. Cheese now that we are far, far away from him. When we were there, they were terrified. Who can blame them?

Energizer bunny

I'm always looking for ways to keep the girls busy and get some of that crazy toddler energy out. On an afternoon at home recently, Makena was running around in her t-shirt, Elmo undies, socks and shoes. Girlfriend had energy to BURN.

She was like a cross between Richard Simmons and Olivia Newton John.

I found her sweatin' to the oldies on the trampoline.

Woopsa-daisy. One jump too many. Get up girlfriend! I know you've got more energy to burn.

When jumping got old, she hopped on her tricycle and did laps around the kitchen.

And then it was time for some musical entertainment to wind things down.

I get tired just looking at the girl run circles around me.
