Still not a fan

I was sure that this was going to be the year that the girls fell in love with fireworks. They were so excited to go with their daddy to the local fireworks stand and help him pick them out. They each chose their own box of sparklers and couldn't wait for it to get dark to see the show.

Alyssa and Makena loved them.

Riley? Not so much. She refused to sit on my lap so that she could bury her head in my chest like last year. The little rinky-dink fireworks show that we put on at home bothered her more than the big community show.

Maybe next year.

Wordful Wednesday-Fireworks

This picture sums up the girl's reactions to the fireworks on the 4th of July. And by fireworks, I mean the kind that you pay a fortune for on the side of the road that barely make any noise and throw tiny sparks in the air.

The hands you see around my neck belong to Riley who had a death grip on me as she hid behind me. Alyssa had her face buried in my chest, although she would turn around and peek occasionally. Makena just had to cover her ears but enjoyed watching all the action.

Maybe next year we'll get some Oooooohhhhs and Aaaahhhhhs!

Happy 4th of July!

4th of July

We had lots of fun on Friday celebrating the 4th of July.

The day started off with a parade.

After the parade, we headed out to the neighborhood carnival where the girls found the jumpy houses and ate hotdogs. They got all tired out and came home for a 3 hour nap! We spent the evening barbequeing with the neighbors.

Lissy hiding behind Auntie Jessica and the boys. She actually did get used to the fireworks and by the end of the show she was asking for more!

Based on the girls reactions to the rinky-dinky fireworks show that the daddies put on, we skipped the big show this year! Hopefully, the girls will enjoy it more a year from now.
