Wordful Wednesday and Picture Overload

The girls had a whirlwind Easter week with FIVE egghunts and THREE chances to meet the Easter bunny. We also had a week of rainy weather but had enough breaks in the rain that the egghunts weren't spoiled.

The girls were excited to see what the Easter bunny brought them on Sunday morning. New bathing suits and coloring books were the biggest crowd pleasers!

The rain started to come down on Sunday afternoon and this was right before the downpour. It was pretty chilly but the buckets full of Easter eggs kept the girls happy.

We crashed at Lolo and Lolo's house after our rainy Sunday at the park. Alyssa came down with a fever by late afternoon and managed to fall asleep on the couch in the midst of her sisters running around all hopped up on Easter candy. A little Motrin cocktail made her feel much better.

Easter weekend

I thought it would be fun to start this post off with a little walk down memory lane. Every year, our community hosts an egghunt for the kids the Saturday before Easter and we get to see the bunny one more time.

The first time the girls met the Easter bunny, they weren't too sure of her, but they didn't run away screaming.

The next year, they wouldn't even sit near her unless I sat in the picture and even then, the results weren't great.

And Alyssa was certain she didn't want anything to do with that bunny!

But this year, things have turned around. Three smiling girls!

Easter 2009

We spent Easter Sunday out on the farm with friends and family. The girls had a blast checking out all the animals, jumping their hearts out, and embarking on the biggest egghunt they've ever seen. We had a great day!

The girls were pooped after their day of fun! It is very rare that all three of my girls fall asleep in the car these days so I couldn't resist taking a picture.

The Easter Bunny and Lemon Bars

The girls had their Easter party at school this week, and although the egg hunt was rained out (BOO), the Easter bunny was able to make an appearance. A mother of another student volunteered to dress up for the kids. Think she was hot in there? To top it off, she couldn't see anything out of that bunny head so the teachers had to lead her around to make sure she didn't trample any kids!

So with bunny ears on their heads and big smiles, the girls hopped up on her lap for a picture. The chocolate bunny that she gave them afterwards was an added bonus.

We have another Easter picnic in our community on Saturday and our mom's group is in charge of baking goodies to sell. So, I decided to make one of my all-time favorite desserts for the occasion and I will share the recipe with you. So yummy!

Lemon Bars

Crust
2 sticks of melted butter
2 cups of flour
1/2 cup of sifted powdered sugar

Topping
4 eggs
2 cups of sugar
1/3 cup of lemon juice
1/4 cup of flour
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

**Mix together well**

Mix ingredients for the crust together and press into a 13x9 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Pour topping mixture over the crust and bake for another 25 minutes. When done baking, sprinkle powdered sugar on top while still warm. Let cool for a few hours and then cut into bars.

Easter 2008

We survived Easter weekend! Riley was still not feeling good and was pretty clingy and just not herself. Makena and Alyssa had a great time running around with the big kids on Easter Sunday and they were able to hang out in the jumpy house with their older cousins. It was funny to see them take off and leave mommy to go play while barely looking back....makes me proud and a little sad all at the same time!

We saw the Easter bunny out at the neighborhood egg hunt on Saturday afternoon and the experience reminds me of why we don't haul the kids down to the mall and fork out $40 bucks for a picture....

Lissy, clearly, was not a fan!

Lissy did make her mama happy and agreed to wear her bunny ears for the egg hunt at BF Jess's house.

Makena is pondering the meaning of life over a piece of Dove's dark chocolate in mid-egghunt.

This is how Riley spent most of her Easter.....in my arms.

Easter hopefuls

Keeping our fingers crossed that all 3 of my girls will see the Easter bunny this year and give a couple of egg hunts their best shot. All of us have battled a cold over the last week and poor Riley has had a fever for the last 3 days. She hasn't been herself and wants to be held all day long. We have a community Easter egg hunt tomorrow afternoon in our neighborhood, which just happens to be right in the middle of our usual nap time, but we still might try to swing it if Riley is feeling better. On Sunday, we are headed out to Semas ranch for more Easter fun.

Easter Weekend Part II

We had a great Easter Sunday out at the Semas Ranch and enjoyed the beautiful weather...I was miraculously allergy free at Easter for the first time I can remember, so I enjoyed the day even more! The girls did really well and made it through the day with little fussing! Riley now says "neigh" when asked what the horsey says, courtesy of the real-life Draft horses that she saw on the farm (nevermind the fact that daddy got shocked by the electric fence that keeps them in their pasture while we were admiring them). The girls were fascinated by all the big kids running around and next year, I'm sure they will do their best to keep up with them.

Congrats to my niece Sophie who found the golden egg with the $10 bill in it..... I am jealous that I am too old to participate in the egg hunt these days!

Easter Weekend Part I

The girls had another opportunity to practice for the "real" Easter egg hunt on Sunday. We are lucky enough to live in a great community that hosted a big Easter celebration on Saturday afternoon. Uncle Craig, Aunt Jodi, and cousins Katie and Sophie were there as well. The girls even took a picture with the Easter bunny, but as usual, I couldn't get all of the girls to look at me at the same time. We had a great time and I think the girls are getting the hang of what they are supposed to do for the egg hunt.
