One of the activities I have the girls doing this summer is a 6-week Baby Signs class. I have been using baby signs with the girls since they were about 12 months old and have found it so useful to have a way to communicate with them. The girls are the oldest in the class, but they have fun running around and playing with all of the toys. The biggest benefit is that I am learning some new signs to teach them. It is also a structured activity that gets us out of the house once a week! We are hearing lots of new words from the girls and they pick up new signs very quickly now.

All of my friends that have done baby signs have loved it. In fact, a good friend of mine from back east just visited me and her son is just younger than the boys but signed a lot. He won't try to say the words that he can sign though. Have you found this to be true with your girls?

When they were younger they would just use the signs, but now they are saying the words (or trying to) with the sign. It's been GREAT for us!
