We made it through our first year with triplets. All were happy and healthy! We celebrated by having a party at our house the weekend berfore their birthday. Lots of friends and family came by to help us celebrate. The girls each had a huge cake to themselves, but the only one who appreciated the cake was Makena. Riley and Alyssa weren't too thrilled about it! The girls had a second round of cake on their actual birthday, that Steve baked himself....the evidence is in the pictures below! Again, Makena couldn't wait to get her hands into the cake, while her sisters were more reluctant. It probably didn't help that the girls caught their first major colds and accompanying ear infections after the birthday bash, so all 3 were a bit cranky.
I can't help but reflect on how lucky we have been this past year. Our girls are thriving and have beaten many odds to make it this far. Everyday, they amaze us with their strength and smiles and determined personalities.

We had a special guest come all the way from L.A. to visit for the big birthday bash (Sam Oswandel).....he's trying out the girl's stroller (front seat), and looking quite manly in the pink carseat.
Our Kaiser NICU nurses also celebrated with us....Carole Schiller with Alyssa and Tess Labang with Makena. Mom (Casey) is in the middle with Riley.

hi, the gray clip on their carseat is supposed to be at chest level....if it isnt it increases risks very greatly
